CIVIL WEDDINGS IN BLED, SLOVENIA

In October 2022, the Slovenian parliament passed an amendment which meant it is now fully legal for same sex couples to get married in Slovenia. This process began earlier in the year and was formalised in July. Finally, full legal clearance was set in law in October.

Whether gay or straight, any wedding in Slovenia has to be carried out via a civil ceremony for it to be legal. That doesn’t mean you have to get married in a registry office. Like most countries in the world, civil ceremonies can also be carried out in licensed wedding venues. Some couples choose to have a quick civil ceremony in their country of residence a few days before their wedding then have a symbolic ceremony for their wedding day.

SYMBOLIC WEDDINGS IN SLOVENIA, EUROPE

Symbolic weddings are a contemporary update on traditional civil ceremonies. Symbolic weddings are not legal so you have to have a civil ceremony first. Also known as humanist weddings, symbolic wedding ceremonies are conducted by a celebrant.

However, like the other buildings in Lake Bled, Lake Bled City Hall is a pretty structure built to complement its picturesque location. Fronted by green grounds with charming architectural details, Bled Town Hall is located close to Lake Bled, making it much more special than the average registry office.
