MY TOP TIPS

for a Civil Ceremony Venue in Bled town

Now you know more about our beautiful licensed wedding venues, here’s a bit more information about getting married in Lake Bled if you’re having a civil ceremony. Don’t forget I’m here to help you every step of the way.

Lake Bled wedding planner Petra Starbek holds in her hand a wedding timeline and a pen and talks about tips on choosing a civil wedding venue around lake Bled.

Choose your wedding venue first

To book your wedding you will need to give notice that you want to marry at the registry office. When you do that you will have to say where you want to get married. Give yourself plenty of time to decide which licensed venue is best for you. Of course, I can help you with this.

Don’t leave the organization until the last minute.

You need to give notice no more than 6 months before the date of your wedding but at least one month before.

Personalize the ceremony

Just because you’re having a civil wedding, it doesn’t mean you can’t be creative in how it’s executed. Beyond exchanging your vows, singers, musicians, readings, and poems are just some of the ways you can make your ceremony special.

Costs

When budgeting for your civil wedding, include the cost of hiring a translator. The ceremony has to be conducted in Slovenian but a translator will translate it into English for you. I have lots of great, highly experienced translators who I use all the time. The costs start from 100€. You will also need to pay 170,00€ if you want to marry in one of the licensed wedding venues which are not the town hall. If you get married at Lake Bled Town Hall there will be no charge for the ceremony. Hire costs for licensed venues vary.

SYMBOLIC WEDDING

Still not sure you want a civil wedding? There is a third option – a symbolic wedding. Symbolic weddings are completely custom-made for you. They are not legal so you have to have a civil ceremony first – usually a couple of days before the wedding. As this is something you have to do anyway to get married in Slovenia, it’s no extra work. The ceremony itself will be completely personalized to you which makes it special. It will be conducted by a celebrant. I have a wonderful celebrant my couples always use who has tons of experience. This is not a civil ceremony so it will be delivered in English. Alternatively, the ceremony could be carried out by someone you know.

The personalization makes it magical.

Together we’ll create your symbolic wedding exactly as you’ve always imagined it but better. Your symbolic wedding can include any of the parts of a traditional wedding you want, such as music, readings, or exchanging vows. However, in a symbolic wedding, it’s all completely bespoke and personal to you. You might want to also include: a symbolic ritual such as hand-tying or lighting a candle. Once you’ve exchanged your vows you could release doves into the air, blow bubbles, paint a picture – the choice is yours.

xoxo,
Petra
